Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon: The Coast-to-Coast Superstar and the Border-to-Border Sensation, the Prime Time Player and the 360° Showstopper

Combine the globe-trotting, devil-may-care nature of a Sagittarius Sun with the theatrical instincts of a Leo Moon and the result is a Sun/Moon pairing that is larger than life, enthusiastically dramatic, and always the star of the show no matter where life takes them. Astrologer Jefferson Anderson calls Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon the pairing of “The Showoff” who simply “doesn’t have the hang-ups and inhibitions that plague so many others”. (Source) Linda Goodman tells us that Sagittarius/Leo is the combination of the one man or one woman “circus parade” that will “jet propel” themselves high-and-far:

There’s plenty of contagious enthusiasm and genuine affection when these signs combine . . . together they have the power to jet-propel toward the impossible. This combination can bring much happiness to the world.

Sagittarius needs the strong net of Leo’s protection to catch them when they fall from their swinging trapezes, just as Leo is secretly thrilled by the Archer’s colorful tumbling acts. When these two courageous signs combine life will never rain on their circus parade. (Source)

To illustrate: professional wrestling superstar Rob Van Dam is a Sagittarius with his Moon in Leo. (Chart) Van Dam is often referred to as “The Whole ‘Effing Show” and “Mr. Pay Per View” for sensationally entertaining in-ring performances. Among wrestling fans he’s a widely admired as a risk-taking (Sagittarius Sun) super-legend (Leo Moon), a deacon (Sagittarius) of high drama (Leo Moon) whose become an icon for jet-propelling himself through circus style stunts so thrilling that they, quite frankly, defy description:

Astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey tell the Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon pairing, “your drama and volatility burn more sensitive souls who will wonder what hit them.” (Source) Professional wrestling is, of course, choreographed but if you watched the first few moments of the above video you’ll see just how correct the Harveys are in their assessment of this pairing’s hard-hitting sense for the dramatic. The Sadge/Leo individual’s penchant for both high-theater and high-adventure also what makes this is one of the Sun/Moon pairings most likely to have pants-crappingly high health insurance premiums. Astrologer Jacqueline Bigar says this pairing is “athletic and willing to take wild leaps of faith.” (Source) Or, in the case of a Sagittarius/Leo like Mr. Van Dam, “wild leaps of faith” off top turnbuckles, 20 foot ladders, and even into live audiences. (Video)

In relationships this pairing has a surprisingly high capacity for happiness. Passionately romantic, the Sagittarius/Leo individual takes as expansive, high-energy an approach to romance as he or she does to public performances or the study of herbal lore. According to astrologer Hazel Dixon Cooper this pairing wants “the whole ‘effing show” when it comes to matters of the heart, “Funny, optimistic, loyal and honest, this is one of the best Sun/Moon combinations”. (Source) Van Dam has been with his wife Sonya for twelve years, stating in a recent interview, “I’ve been with the same gal for twelve years and I’m the happiest man in the world relationship wise.” (Source)

Van Dam isn’t the only Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon to make a name for himself in the world of high-flying acrobatics and death-defying forms of theater. Charles Ringling, the founder of Ringling Brothers Circus, is also a Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon. (Chart) In the wrestling world, Van Dam is known as “Mr. Pay Per View” while Ringling can be thought of as the original “Mr. Pay Per View”. Ringling is thought to have coined the phrase, “The show must go on”, a motto that Mr. Van Dam more or less lives by.Nor is Van Dam the only notable Sagittarius/Leo individual to wear extremely bright, colorful, and tight-fitting outfits to work. Actress, peace activist, and fitness icon Jane Fonda is a Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon. (Source) Like Rob Van Dam, Jane Fonda tends to be the “whole ‘effing show” no matter where she goes or how she chooses to express herself:

Whatever their chosen profession, Sagittarius/Leo individuals will most often be found where there is some type of “main event” that they can be at the center of. Arthur Fielder, the longtime conductor of the Boston symphony, is also a Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon. (Chart) Fielder didn’t have a catchy nickname like “Mr. Pay Per View”, “Mr. Monday Night”, or “The Whole F–king Show” but you don’t end up conducting the Boston symphony for 50 straight years unless you’re capable of putting on one hell of a performance.

Sagittarius/Leos make for great show-offs, certainly, but there is more to this pairing than just high drama and high ratings. This combination takes a approach to intellectual and spiritual matters that is every bit as passionate as it does to giving public performances. According to the Harveys, a metaphoric image for the Sagittarius/Leo combination is, “At an emotionally moving ceremony, the shaman of the gypsies is given an honorary university degree in herbal lore and ancient geography.” (Source) That’s an uncannily accurate approximation of Rob Van Dam. Wrestlers are essentially the modern day, sports entertainment equivalent of gypsies while Van Dam, who has studied eastern forms off spirituality, is probably the closet thing they have to a shaman. He doesn’t have an honorary degree in herbal lore but he is a very vocal advocate of marijuana legalization. He’s even financed a documentary along with Tommy Chong about the benefits of the plant and the government’s brutal insistence on criminalizing it.

In addition to jet-propelling itself wide and far, this pairing will often thrust its principals (Sagittarius) into the limelight (Leo Moon). Jane Fonda became famous in the 1960s for her extremely outspoken (Sagittarius), high profile (Leo Moon) opposition to the war in Vietnam. In 2006, Van Dam did something similar when he refused to go on the WWE’s tour of Iraq because he felt the war was for oil. He was the only high profile wrestler to come out in opposition to the war. Among wrestling fans his name is now synonymous with medical marijuana due to his wide ranging (Sagittarius) enthusiastic (Leo Moon) efforts at getting the plant legalized.

Van Dam actually owns a comic book store in Southern California and, as coincidence, would have it the new comic book Bitch Planet is a Sagittarius with its Moon in Leo based on its debut date. According to astrologer Heather Renae Horton, “the comic takes place in a male-dominated future where women deemed ‘non-compliant’, or otherwise inconvenient to their male overlords, are sent to the Auxiliary Compliance Outposts (ACO), aka ‘Bitch Planet’—a penal colony in outer space. True to their Sagittarian nature, the women on Bitch Planet are raw and strong, both physically and mentally. The combination of the Sun in adventuresome Sagittarius (the wild horse) and the Moon in dramatic Leo (the lioness) makes for an exhilarating display of justice-minded resistance against Earth’s new, autocratic male order.”

Astrologer Bil Tierney says the Sagittarius/Leo pairing “will often inspire others to do their best and never give up on their highest goal. These signs are strong morale boosters”. (Source) Jane Fonda boosted the morale of fitness aficionados and those opposed to the war in Vietnam. Van Dam boosted the morale of wrestling fans and those opposed to the war in Iraq. Strange as it may seem at first glance, a comic like Bitch Planet is doing something similar. At a time where the forces of autocracy seem to have fully retrenched themselves, the comic is providing its readers a bit of inspiration that non-compliant (Sagittarius) forms of creative self-expression (Leo Moon) could help jet-propel us past the forces of autocracy — something that recent events have made clear is needed now more than ever before.

Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon: The Soul Bender, the Sorceress, and the Super Villainess ("Sometimes love – and even life itself – really is a battlefield")

Combine a Capricorn’s natural toughness with a Scorpio Moon’s instincts for power and mystery and the result is a Sun/Moon pairing oriented towards emotional self-possession, power through stealth, and being impossible to resist. This combination of intensely potent traits makes for a terrifying super-villain if cast for evil or an anti-hero of tremendous psychological depth if cast for good. To illustrate: actress Jane Badler is a Capricorn with her Moon in Scorpio. (Badler’s Chart) She’s best known for playing Diana, the man-eating, mind-bending, mega-maniacal chief science officer in the original 1983 mini-series V. Badler, who is also an accomplished singer, is well into her second Saturn Return and appears to be as good at acting bad(ler) as ever:

Of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings this is arguably the one most able to survive the crushing pressures of life’s more subterranean realms. Astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey write of its stainless steel psychological backbone:

Compassion and the courage to undergo suffering for the sake of regeneration is your greatest strength. You have a resonance with suffering and the darker side of human experience, and want to do something about it. (Source)

At least that is what happens when this Sun/Moon pairing is operating at its highest expression. What happens when it’s coming from a less spiritually evolved place? For the answer to that we turn to Badler’s 1983 portrayal of Diana. Her original interpretation of that character approximates what happens when the ambitious nature of a Capricorn Sun and the psychological prowess of a Scorpio Moon both simultaneously turn to their dark sides. When possessed by its shadow, this Sun/Moon pairing goes from tenacious to ruthless, from authentically compassionate to deeply sinister, from refusing to tolerate fools to stopping at nothing in the pursuit of power:

Now take at look at this aggregation of Badler’s scenes from the 2009 series. In the re-imagined series, we find out that Diana suffered something akin to a nervous breakdown after being overwhelmed by human emotions. She has spent the last 15 years in a subterranean prison locked away and left for dead “like a dirty little secret”. During her time in solitary confinement she has come to understand the soul as something not to be enslaved by technology but to be felt deep inside the heart. “Heartache, pain, sorrow . . . I felt it all”, the new version of Diana responds when her daughter demands to know what she’s been up to the last few years.

Want your mind blown? According to the Harveys, the metaphoric image for Badler’s Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon combination is, “A prisoner in solitary confinement undergoes a spiritual transformation . . .” (Source) That’s a nearly exact description of the 2009 version of Badler’s alter-ego Diana.

Capricorn and Scorpio may be the two “tough muthas” of the zodiac but don’t think it’s all suffering, survival, and gnashing of teeth with this combo. Tuned as it is to the less pleasant dimensions of human existence, Capricorn/Scorpio natives posses potent yet greatly underrated senses of humor. It’s not the roll on the floor and laugh out loud brand of humor of Cancer is famous or the physical hi-jinks of slapstick loving Sagittarius. Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon humor is more the dark sort of satire that subtly communicates a deeper reality while making you feel a good deal more uncomfortable than you were prepared to feel. Take a look, for instance, at this video of Badler meeting with one of the executive producers of the 2009 version of V:

(Don’t worry, she didn’t actually eat the rat.) Here’s the kicker about that video: the producers of the new V actually made her audition for the role of Diana. Given the iconic nature of her original performance, making Jane Badler re-audition for the role of Diana is about as much a “WTF?” move as making Arnold Schwarzenegger re-audition for the role of the Terminator. What Badler managed to communicate in between the lines of that video is “I can’t believe you guys are actually making me audition for this role. Are you seriously thinking anybody else can do it like me? I guess I just have to show you amateurs how it’s done.” Of course being a Capricorn/Scorpio she’s shrewd enough to make the point subtly and within the boundaries of a humorous YouTube skit.

The Capricorn/Scorpio pairing ages quite well, as you may have noticed watching the above video. Speaking astrologically, here’s why: each sign correlates to a certain age range. Scorpio correlates to years 49-56, the age at which a person is just coming into full command of their personal power. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet associated with the alchemical processes that keep vampires and other creatures of the night looking eternally youthful. Capricorn correlates to years 63-70, the age at which a person begins to be seen as a source of wisdom. It’s ruled by Saturn, the planet associated with anything built for the long haul and is considered the “sign of reverse aging”. (Source) Put the two signs together and you get a Sun/Moon pairing for whom the first 55 or so years of life are what’s known as “the warm up period”.

Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon Astro-Twins: Jane Badler, Pat Benatar, Henry Miller

Badler’s Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon astro-twin is singer Pat Benatar, best known for songs such as “Love as a Battlefield”, “Hit me With Your Best Shot”, “Sex as a Weapon”, and “You Better Run”. (Benatar’s Chart)

Like Mrs. Benatar, Mrs. Badler is a singer whose songs channel this pairing’s intensely felt emotions: “Men Who Lie”, “I Want a Lot of Boys to Cry at My Funeral”, and “The Devil Has My Double” are a few of her recent singles. People with the same Sun/Moon pairing often bear an impossible to dismiss resemblance to each other even if they’re obviously not related by blood. In the case of Benatar and Badler, the camera picks up on both the angular jawline (Capricorn’s toughness) and the compelling eyes (Scorpio’s intensity):

Singer Rod Stewart – best known for his song “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” – is also a Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon. A 2010 Huffington Post article about Stewart’s appearance on the Piers Morgan show summarized the Capricorn/Scorpio zeitgeist of emotional intensity and psychological catharsis quite well:

His second wife, model Rachel Hunter, divorced the singer in 2006 after 16 years of marriage–a heartbreak that took time and therapy to get over.

“Bl**dy hell did it [hurt]. Karma gets you! It was a good six months of laying upstairs, looking at the ceiling in bed, couldn’t get out of bed, didn’t drink for six months. That’s how bad it was.” Stewart said. (Source)

According to Wikipedia, “Stewart was born at home during World War II, half an hour after a German V-2 missile warhead fell on the local police station.” (Source) For the Capricorn/Scorpio native sometimes love – and even life itself – really is a battlefield.

Pisces Sun, Libra Moon: The Ringleader-Eminence of Exquisite Joy and Eternal Good Times

Combine the deeply imaginative nature of a Pisces Sun with the sociable instincts of an Libra Moon and you get a Sun/Moon pairing attuned to aesthetics, beauty, and harmony within both creative and interpersonal contexts. Astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey write of this pairing:

You exude a wistful, intangible glamour, as if you were king or queen of the forest fairies incarnate, come to entice the clumsy mortals to a place exquisitely serene and joyful. You love people . . . and really come alive at parties.

Using the date of its release as its date of birth, the hit 1990 song “The Humpty Dance” by pioneering hip hop group Digital Underground is a Pisces Sun, Libra Moon. (Chart) You’ll find few examples of somebody or something that has done more “to liven up parties” than “The Humpty Dance”. Take a look at the video for the song to see just how live a party can get once a Pisces/Libra individual hits the scene:

Greg Jacobs aka “Shock G” aka “Mr. Humpty” in the above video, is obviously not a literal “king of the forest fairies incarnate”. He does, however, introduce himself as “the new fool in town whose sounds laid down by the Underground” which is roughly the same idea once you make some adjustments for what might be lost in translation.

Fortunately for any “clumsy mortals” who might have wandered upon Mr. Humpty and his exquisitely joyous underground entourage, the Pisces Sun, Libra Moon pairing is known for its social inclusiveness, graciously diplomatic ways, and essentially gentle nature. In All Around the Zodiac, astrologer Bill Tierney writes of this combination’s peace-loving demeanor:

Libra and Pisces are both known to have a soft spot in their hearts for those in need of sympathy and encouragement. These signs can put themselves in other people’s shoes long enough to induce deeper understanding and even compassion . . . Both signs being gentle spirits at heart, this combination knows how to be calming and soothingly supportive to those in need.

Demonstrating the hallmark Pisces/Libra sense of social inclusiveness, Mr. Humpty ends his song with an invitation to people of all races to join in the dance. He then finishes by proclaiming, “Lets get stupid!!!”, which can be translated as “Let’s have an exquisitely joyous, soothing, and serene time together!!!”, something the Pisces Sun, Libra Moon native is a natural at encouraging others to do.

You’ll find a disproportionate number of Pisces Sun, Libra Moon natives in the creative or artistic professions. Astrologer Jefferson Anderson says Pisces/Libra is often “drawn to the arts” and “has a natural understanding of form, beauty and aesthetics.” (Source) Mapmaker Geradus Mercator is a Pisces Sun, Libra Moon native whose beautifully artistic maps generated as much buzz among 16th century cartographers as the Humpty Dance has among 20th and 21st century hip hop aficionados. (Chart) Interestingly enough, Mercator’s maps were even frequently sampled by other cartographers in much the same that “the Humpty Dance” is now frequently sampled by other musicians.

Pisces Sun, Libra Moon is attuned to beauty. Pictured above: one of Mercator’s maps.

Commenting on his fun-loving reputation, Mr. Humpty warns us that he’s known to “sometimes get ridiculous, eating up all your crackers and licorice.” His Pisces Sun, Libra Moon astro-twin Mr. Mercator enjoyed a similarly robust reputation among 16th century high society. According to the Mercator biography The World of Geradus Mercator, “Mercator was a regular guest at official banquets and civic occasions. He was known as an entertaining and expansive guest who could be relied on to enliven a late night table.” (Source)

When not enlivening late night tables, the Pisces Sun, Libra Moon pairing can be found either working at or clowning around in collaborative projects with others. To illustrate: in this next set of photos Mercator is seen clowning around with his apprentice from the map-making underground Joducus Hondius. Below that is a photo of Shock G still in his Humpty Hump alter-ego doing the same with his then 19 year old apprentice (back up dancer) Tupac Shakur:

Pisces/Libra: the Funky Mapmakers and the Funky Trackmakers.

Eighteenth century composer Frederick Chopin and 20th century ballet dancer Rudolf Nurevey are also both Pisces Sun, Libra Moon individuals. Like Mercator’s maps and Mr. Humpty’s music, Chopin and Nurevey’s forms self-expression are as aesthetically pleasing today as they were when originally created.

While “The Humpty Dance” may have a ways to go before it’s considered the same level of revered art as Chopin’s compositions or Nurevey’s ballet performances, it did go multi-platinum and is one of the most widely sample songs of the last thirty years. In fact, its appeal has proven so broad that there’s now an entire genre of YouTube videos featuring “clumsy mortals enticed to a place exquisitely serene and joyful” by the song. (Source) There’s even a sub-genre of that genre of videos featuring people’s pets and animals who’ve been moved to an equally joyful place by its pulsating bassline and and wildly whimsical lyrical rhymes. This French Bulldog getting down to the song is but one example:

In addition to being so extraordinarily creative that it can entice members of multiple species to joyous self-expression, the Pisces Sun, Libra Moon native is usually deeply romantic. Astrologer Jefferson Anderson writes of this combination says this pairing is,”Capable of losing yourself altogether in love, in many respects you are the perfect partner. You know how to balance the give-and-take in a relationship”. (Source) For instance, poet Elizabeth Browning Barret is a Pisces Sun, Libra Moon known for being profound romantic. (Chart)

Pisces/Libras can usually see past things like race or economic background to see the universal threads that tie us all together. For instance, at first you might not think a Victorian era white woman like Mrs. Browning-Barret and a black rapper’s 1990s alter ego like Mr. Humpty would have too much in common.

Shock G as Humpty and his astro-twin Elizabeth Barrett Browning

If, however, you look beyond their demographic profiles you’ll notice number of meaningful similarities between the two. For starters, Mrs. Barrett-Browning and Mr. Humpty are both writers known for “being spunky and liking their rhymes funky”, to quote a line from “The Humpty Dance”. They also both share similarly all inclusive attitudes towards the key socio-political issues of their respective eras. Mr. Humpty famously ends his song by encouraging people of all nationalities to join together in “peace and humptiness” while Mrs. Browning-Barret was also quite comfortable with people of different backgrounds. According to an Ebony Magazine interview with her biographer Julia Markus, “Mrs. Barrett-Browning sincerely believed that she had African blood running through her veins.” (Source)

True to their Pisces/Libra astrological pedigrees, both Mr. Humpty and Mrs. Barrett-Browning share magically (Pisces) romantic (Libra) approaches to matters of the heart. Barrett-Browning once asked, “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”

This was is right off the bat obviously Pluto in Capricorn but also the conjunction of South Node (karmic past) with Venus (love/seduction) and Jupiter (good fortune, too much of a good thing) in Gemini, the downside of which is “excess connectivity”.

If you want to know just how advanced this stuff is make sure to check out this article from 2007 at which point the Pentagon was already running simulations on all 6.5 billion people on the planet. (Yes, all 6.5 billion) That was five years ago, imagine what they can do now.

Wired: Russia’s Top Cyber Sleuth Foils U.S. Spies, Helps Kremlin Friends

This has Pluto (destruction) in Capricorn (status quo) square Uranus (innovations) in Aries (warfare) on it most obviously but also Mars in Libra as it relates to “balance of power” issues. Sputnik, for instance, has a Sun/Mars/Jupiter conjunction in Libra in its chart and it was what set off the a 50 year fight over the balance of power between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.

Wired: Sudden Melting of Greenland Ice Sheet Has Scientists Alarmed

Again, the Uranus/Pluto square as Uranus relates to shocking developments and Pluto in Capricorn (structures) relates to geologic structures as much as financial/political ones. Tectonic plates are obviously under the domain of Capricorn, I suppose ice sheets which take thousands of years to form could be considered similar. Neptune in Pisces also comes into play here as Neptune dissolves boundaries in whatever sign it moves through. In Pisces it dissolves boundaries on the ocean itself. The melting will also allow oil companies to get at oil that has previously been impossible to get to because of the ice. The first modern oil well (“Drake’s Well”) was drilled in Pennsylvania last time Neptune went through Pisces.

This has North Node (destiny) in Sagittarius (high adventure, new frontiers) all over it with some nice added buzz from Uranus (innovations in Aries (the daredevil).

The Atlantic: Scholars Uncover 1670s Version of Twitter (No Joke)

Ha! This has the current pile up in Gemini (chatting, gossip) and North Node in Sagittarius (publishing, scholarship) all over it but as it pertains to the “re”-publishing of previous material it’s also very much in line with the spirit of the current Mercury Retrograde in Leo.

We’ve got Venus/Jupiter/South Node all in Gemini, which is symbolized by the Twins and the sign most likely go both ways.

NY Times: DNA and Fossils Tell Differing Stories of Human Origins

As Gemini is symbolized by the Twins it is also thought by many astrologers to be the sign associated with the double helix DNA. So this one has the current pile up in Gemini all over it along with the North Node in Sagittarius (scholarship). Digging up old fossils are definitely the domain of Pluto in Capricorn as Pluto unearths things while Capricorn pertains to anything old such as the geologic record.

UK Telegraph: South Korean Artist to Launch Home Made Space Satellite

“Ohhhh hells yeah bitch!” my Aries Moon says to this one. Obviously it’s got North Node in Sagittarius (adventures) with a wide but valid trine from Uranus (innovations) in Aries (the do-it-yourselfer) all over it. The Uranus/Pluto square is also visible here as you can bet the establishment (Capricorn) is going to want to crack down on DIY space satellites. Throw in Mars in Libra as it definitely shifts the balance of power away from centralized power structures and back to the people.

Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon: The Lawyer, the Client, and the Player-President

(Image: Bobby Seale circa 1971, via Wikimedia)

Libra is the Lover, the Artist, the Peacemaker, the Diplomat, the Statesmen, the Counselor, and the Art Collector. This is the sign most associated with fairness, elegance, civility, beauty, aesthetics, and social harmony, as well as being considered the sign of marriage and 1-to-1 partnerships. Known for its natural sense of style, Libra is the sign most likely to have a walk-in closet for its elegantly tailored wardrobe and a bottle of Chanel #5 on its dresser drawer. Don Cornelius, the founder and producer of the television show Soul Train, is a Libra Sun who represented well the stylish ways and smooth sociability of this diplomatic sign. (Chart)

Libra is symbolized as the scales of justice which must be continually balanced. This is why you’ll find a disproportionate number of famous lawyers or justice-seekers born under this sign. Johhnie Cochran and John Lennon, for instance, are both Libra Suns.

Capricorn, sitting 90 degrees from Libra, is the sign of the Chief Executive, the Prime Minister, the Authority Figure, the Strategist, the Tycoon, and the Public Administrator. When a person’s Moon (emotional needs) is in Capricorn they are emotionally nourished by endeavors that require long term planning, strategic decision making, and near superhuman levels of self-discipline. It’s for this reason a disproportionate number of both army generals and leading men have their Moons in Capricorn. George Patton, George Clooney, Norman Schwarzkopf, Napolean Bonaparte, Lucille Ball, and the Whole Foods Corporation are all Capricorn Moons who have represented this lunar placement’s capacity for hoof-busting hard work and aptitude for the building of empires.

Capricorn and Libra form what’s known as a “square” aspect. Signs that square each other tend to knock heads as the goals, values, talents, and fears of each are inherently in conflict with the other. Consider, for instance, the differences between the textbook Libra and the textbook Capricorn. Libra values diplomacy and partnership while Capricorn values status and achievement. Libra’s demeanor is friendly and sociable while Capricorn’s is all business, no-nonsense. Libra wants to go out for a romantic night at the theater, Capricorn feels obligated to stay late at the office. Libra’s big challenge is being too passive, Capricorn’s big challenge is working too damn much. Libra fears being alone, Capricorn fears being poverty-stricken.

Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon: Social Savvy Meets Business Savvy

Now the two of them do have some things in common. They both, for instance, love designer labels. Libra Sun loves them because they make him look good, Capricorn Moon loves them because they indicate she’s achieved the success necessary to afford them.[caption id=”attachment_4102″ align=”aligncenter” width=”300″ caption=”Libra loves stylish threads and Capricorn loves status symbols. Both love designer labels.

More importantly, they both love order. Libra loves order in the social arena while Capricorn loves order in the business arena. That’s why the Libra Sun/Capricorn Moon pairing is excellent for management as it combines Libra’s social savvy with Capricorn’s business savvy. Libra knows how to keep its employees happy and cooperative while Capricorn knows how to keep them organized and on-task.

Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon: Ambition Never Looked So Fine

Hollywood Golden Era actress Joan Fontaine is a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon. (Chart) Her rise to the top of the film business is a good example of how to get these two signs working together. Fontaine was a struggling young actress when she managed to sit herself next to producer David O. Selzneck at a dinner party. The two began discussing literature and next thing she knew Selzneck asked her to audition for the film Rebecca. According to Wikipedia, Fontaine then “endured a grueling six-month series of film tests, along with hundreds of other actresses, before securing the part some time before her 22nd birthday.” (Source)

Note how her success resulted in equal parts from who she positioned herself next to at a social gathering (Libra) and her ability to endure a grueling work schedule (Capricorn). She displayed Libra’s ability to charm while dining with the producer, then deployed Capricorn’s ability to grind while out-working the competition. By blending Libra’s social skills with Capricorn’s nose-to-the grindstone mentality, Fontaine was able to invest the stress of a tough Sun/Moon pairing into launching a career that ultimately spanned 54 years. The tension inside between her solar and lunar selves on inside her was probably key to her success within the ultra-competitive environment around her.

Actor Michael Douglas is a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon well known in Hollywood circles for both his sociability and work ethic. (Chart) His role as the chief executive (Capricorn) seeking an equal partner (Libra) in the 1995 film American President is a nice, if idealized, projection of the Libra/Capricorn square:

Gavin Newsom, the former mayor of San Francisco known as much for his string of relationships as for his support of gay marriage, is also a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon. (Chart) People with the same Sun/Moon pairing (“Astro-twins”) often bear a impossible to dismiss resemblance to each other even if they’re not related by blood. As a number of commentators have noted, Gavin Newsom bears an impossible to dismiss resemblance to Michael Douglas:

Curiously enough, Newsom’s rise to the top of California politics mirrors Joan Fontaine’s rise to the top of the film business. Newsom’s had to grind as much as any politician but he’s been helped tremendously by the fact his father is best friends with Gordon Getty. Getty, an elite Wall Street magnante, has opened doors for Newsom in much the same way elite Hollywood producer David Selzneck opened doors for Joan Fontaine. (Source) Newsom has also benefitted from a number of relationships with very high profile women. His first wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, worked her way through law school as a Victoria Secret model while his current wife, Jennifer Siebel, is a well known Hollywood actress. As you can see, there is good reason why astrologer Jefferson Anderson refers to Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon as “The Social Climber”. (Source)

Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon: Machiavellian Mastermind or Icon of Life and Liberty

Speaking of social climbing, each of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings has it’s own dark side. Libra’s dark side is associated with vanity and social positioning while Capricorn’s dark side is associated with ruthless pursuit of status. Imagine a person possessing the instincts of Machiavelli and the wardrobe of Louis Vuitton and you’ll get a sense of this pairing’s modus operandi when it turns to its shadow side. Jefferson Anderson tells us that the Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon native has the potential to become “just another Iago” should they use their skills for selfish purposes. (Source) “Iago” is widely considered to be Shakespeare’s most evil villain, famous for engaging in some of the most ruthless social positioning schemes imaginable. (Source) Disgraced U.S. Army Colonel Oliver North, the Machiavellian mastermind of Iran Contra, is a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon. (Chart)

Which brings us to a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon individual who is to Oliver North what matter is to anti-matter. Bobby Seale, founder of the Black Panther Party, is a Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon. (Chart) Most (white)

Ecologically, Libra is the sign of the autumnal equinox, a time of the year when night (black) and day (white) must exist in equal partnership with each other. Capricorn, the sign of the Authority Figure, is ruled by Saturn which in traditional astrological lore is the original agricultural CEO. (Source) Put the two together and you have somebody who can excel at the large scale organization (Capricorn) of legal/social systems (Libra). According to astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey, the Statue of Liberty is a good metaphoric image for the highest expression of Libra Sun, Capricorn Moon. (Source) Bobby Seale is obviously not the actual Statue of Liberty but he is an icon for life, liberty, and hard-earned happiness, the honest pursuit of which is the highest expression of the Libra/Capricorn pairing.

Taurus Sun, Aries Moon: The Gladiatrix

People with their Suns (identity) in Taurus tend to be identified with their ability to accumulate resources (cash, land), handle material objects (clothes, jewelry), enjoy creature comforts (rich food, fine wine), and bull-like refusal to ever budge or negotiate. Sitting 30 degrees away from Taurus, is Aries, the Trailblazer, the Daredevil, the Warrior, the Survivor, the Competitor, the Ass-Kicker of the Zodiac. In nature it is associated with the Ram who confronts rivals by ramming its head into them. When a person’s Moon (emotional needs) is in Aries they are emotionally nourished by going head to head against a challenge. Pair the territorial nature of a Taurus Sun with aggressive emotions of an Aries Moon and the result is a Sun/Moon combination uniquely suited for gladiatorial combat. In his 1978 book Sun Signs Moon Signs, Jefferson Anderson emphasizes the Taurus Sun, Aries Moon individual’s unwavering approach to life:

On the surface you are calm, self-controlled, and easygoing but that charm masks your passion and determination. Once you set your sights on something, you will pursue it with remarkably unwavering intensity. If anyone should happen to stand in your way – well that is their problem. Your presence alone can be intimidating. (Source)

According to astrologers Sonya Magett and Rob Marriott, Taurus/Aries is the “most gangsta” corner of the zodiac with Taurus correlating to “the money” and Aries “to the muscle”. (Source) ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews is a Taurus Sun, Aries Moon whose made a lot of money by muscling her way into the most alpha of alpha male arenas. (Natal Chart) She’s not a literal “gangsta” but she has succeeded in a male dominated industry so dog-eat-dog that a level of mental toughness and situational awareness on par with that of a 1920s Chicago mafioso are required in order to survive.

In Taurus/Aries land Andrews’ line about “We [women] need to look out for each other” translates as “They need to look for each other, I can fend for myself just fine.”

Andrews may look like a model but her psychological profile is more akin to that of a Roman-era gladiator than that of a beauty queen. To illustrate: Using its premier date as its date of birth, the film Gladiator starring Russel Crowe as Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius is also a Taurus/Aries. (Chart)

While Andrews may never have endured a professional environment quite as barbaric and ruthless what’s depicted in Gladiator, she was on the dance team and did rush a sorority during her time at the University of Florida so she’s likely come close. (Source) As Taurus/Aries native Rabindranath Tagore once said, “Power takes as ingratitude the writhings of the its victims.” (Source)

TMZ recently had a piece on what a “bitch” Andrews is but trust me, given her astrological pedigree being called that phrase has next to no effect on her. As far as the textbook Taurus/Aries female is concerned the b-word stands for “Being In Total Control Of Herself”:

African American leader Malcom X and French revolutionary leader Maximilien Robespierre are both Taurus/Aries natives who demonstrated this pairing’s ability to gladiate their way into their respective cultures’ body politic. Andrews is a sports reporter, not a political leader, so while we certainly can’t put her in the same category as Malcom X or Robespierre she has had to develop an extremely thick skin (Taurus Sun) and aggressive instincts (Aries Moon) in order to survive in her chosen profession.

Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon: The Scorpion King and the Public Enemy, the Black Swan and the Solar Eclipse ("Now the story I’m kickin’ is gory . . . ")

(Image: Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” music video)

Combine the stage presence of a Leo Sun with the psychological depth of a Scorpio Moon and the result is a Sun/Moon pairing that is magnetic yet defiant, deeply principled yet incredibly determined, and capable of leading others through even the most soul-crushing of environments. Astrologer Jefferson Anderson writes of this pairing, “purposeful and bold, you usually have a master plan for living and you follow it carefully. You enjoy the battlefield of life.” (Source) Astrologer Jeremy Neal makes a similar point, that at its finest the Leo/Scorpio square produces the “Scorpion King” who stands his or her ground as effectively as Leonidas at Thermopylae. (Source) Rapper Chuck D, head of the pioneering rap group Public Enemy, is a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon and probably about as close to a modern day version of Leonidas at Thermopylae as you’re going to find. (Chart)

Astrologer Sue Tompkins observes that historically, the Leo/Scorpio square has been associated with success in opera:

The classic zodiac combination associated with opera is Leo and Scorpio. Most people with an emphasis in these two signs really love opera if they are exposed to it. Leo suggests drama and color, and Scorpio indicates passion, tragedy, and revenge — favorite storylines of many operatic scores.

Chuck D is a rapper, not an opera singer, but a huge proportion of his work is characterized by drama, color, passion, tragedy, and revenge every bit as much as the most compelling classical operas. In fact, some have been so compelling that they were banned from the airwaves. The same goes for a good deal of his political and social commentary, which is often as creatively forthright (Leo Sun) and psychologically intense (Scorpio Moon) as any Public Enemy album.

Carolyn Reynolds says this is the Sun/Moon pairing of “The Ruthless Animal” whose intense energies must be channeled into something creative and productive. (Source) If not he or she could very well turn into something akin to a werewolf. I don’t know if Chuck D has any werewolf tendencies but there’s no doubt you need at least a little bit of a “ruthless animal” in you to survive in the increasingly corporate dominated world of music. This is doubly the case when you’re unwilling to compromise your truth for the all-mighty dollar.

The line about one-third of the way through the above song, “Now the story I’m kickin’ is gory . . .” could be a motto for this Sun/Moon pairing. Leo Sun loves to tell stories while Scorpio Moon has an instinctual understanding of the most gory aspects of the human experience. Author Alex Haley is also a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon. (Chart) You could make a case that he did with his book Roots: The Saga of an American Family what Chuck D has done with his music: tell the gory truth, the whole gory truth, and nothing but the gory truth. Alfred Hitchcock, world famous for his capacity to kick stories that are gory, is also a Leo/Scorpio. (Chart)

Due to the fixed (stubborn) nature of both signs, this pairing has a tendency to go to extremes. Actress Mila Kunis, best known for her role as a ballerina who takes a number of things to extremes in the 2010 films Black Swan, is a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon. (Chart) Kunis is also quite capable of going “Scorpion Queen” on an adversary as this video of her confrontation with a Russian reporter demonstrates.

This combination’s tendency to go to extremes also endows it with the capacity to take an unflinchingly honest look at psychopathic behavior, including those forms of psychopathic behavior that a society comes to accept as normal. Director Stanley Kubrick is a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon. (Chart) He is best known for films such as Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket, each of which takes a disturbingly lucid look at the psychopathic criminality of the military-industrial complex. Something similar can be said of Public Enemy’s portrayal of the psychopathic criminality that is slavery, both the brand that existed during the days of the plantation-agricultural complex and the brand that exists currently under the prison-industrial complex.

This is probably the most street-smart of all Leo pairings. Being secretive and strategic is a survival skill for Leo/Scorpio as its capacity to produce unflinchingly honest art inevitably gets them in battles with the censors. This includes corp-gov censors and people’s internalized censors, both of which prefer keeping the most horrible truths hidden from conscious awareness. Chuck D’s battles with corp-gov censors are well documented enough that they need not be rehashed here other than to say his career could be an astrology textbook’s case-study in the Leo/Scorpio square.

Lee/Scorpio natives often possess star power but it’s not the type of star power associated with the red carpet of a big movie premier. It’s more akin to the star power of a solar eclipse than the star power of the academy awards. Astrologer Suzanne Miller describes the powerful if potentially disturbing effects of a solar eclipse as follows:

They are almost always positive, although their effects can be jarring and difficult. They shake us up so that we can move from one level of maturity to another, very rapidly. If we have become complacent or took someone or something for granted, chances are that we won’t after an eclipse has delivered its message. (Source)

The same can be said for the effects of and the messages delivered by Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon natives such as Chuck D, Alex Haley, and Stanley Kubrick. At its most effective this pairing will shock or shake people’s consciousness by wielding their capacity for creative self-expression (Leo Sun) regarding subject matter of a dangerous, taboo nature (Scorpio).

Cancer Sun, Aries Moon Part II: The Stay at Home Force

Both Cancer and Aries are “cardinal” signs which means they each like to initiate things albeit in very different ways. Cancer Sun likes to initiate when it comes to feeding the emotions, Aries Moon like to initiate when it comes to starting the fights. With the masculine side of the psyche (the Sun) in the most feminine sign (Cancer) and feminine side of the psyche (the Moon) in the most masculine sign (Aries), this pairing can have trouble deciding if its theme song is “Dear Mama” by Tupac Shakur or “Raising Hell” by Run DMC. Cancer is the most maternal sign but also the most moody. Aries is the most enthusiastic but also the most combative. Pair the two together and you get a very combustible emotional ecosystem, one that alternates between scalding hot and soothingly warm.

When it gets firing on all cylinders Cancer Sun, Aries Moon can be a very potent combination. Fill a cast iron pot with the feminine emotionality of Cancerian water, heat it with the masculine bravado of Aries fire and the result can be likened to a steam powered locomotive barreling down the tracks at full speed, whistles and horns blasting all the way:

At its best the Cancer Sun, Aries Moon individual will be caring yet courageous, emotionally sensitive yet extremely enterprising, with a shy disposition that belies near superhuman levels of energy. Astrologer Sue Tompkins says this combination is excellent for fighting on behalf of children or housing issues. (Source) Imagine Superman bottle feeding a baby or Wonder Woman running an orphanage and you’ll have a pretty good idea of how this combination’s modus operandi once it reconciles the feminine (Cancer) and masculine (Aries) sides of its psyche.

Mixed Martial Arts superstar Bobby Lashley is a Cancer Sun, Aries Moon and about as close a real life example of “Superman bottle feeding a baby” as you’re likely to find. (Chart) A collegiate wrestling champion in the mid-1990s, Lashley spent a few years as a professional (choreographed) wrestler before moving into the world of professional cage fighting. He now runs a Denver Colorado gym where he trains children in the martial arts. Fast forward to :49 for a great example of somebody whose combined a Cancer Sun’s nurturing capabilities with an Aries Moon’s instincts for competition:

According to astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey, one of two metaphoric images for the highest expression of the Cancer Sun, Aries Moon pairing is “A suffragette takes to the barricades in aid of her cause”. (Source) Lashley’s not a “suffragette taking to the barricades in aid of her cause” to quote the Harveys’ metaphoric image for this pairing but he is a fighter whose taken to the martial arts ages in aid of those kids. The second metaphoric image for Cancer/Aries according to the Harveys is “A quiet homebody becomes a sports champion.” (Source) That too is an excellent approximation of Lashley as he is a sports champion whose love of home and family comes through quite clearly in the above video.

Cancer Sun, Aries Moon: A Superman Complex, Sense of Defensiveness

At its highest expression, Cancer Sun, Aries Moon is the pairing of “the heroic spirit” who “goes to the mat” for a cause. There are, however, downsides to being so heroic all the time. Astrologer Jefferson Anderson warns of the Cancer Sun, Aries Moon individual’s propensity for burnout and breakdown:

It’s not easy to live up to that Superman or Wonder Woman self-image of yours. Self acceptance is the key to many of the problems you encounter. It’s nearly impossible to meet all the goals you will set for yourself, so stop racing around risking heart attack and nervous breakdown . . . (Source)

Lashley has never had a heart attack or nervous breakdown but his single loss as a professional fighter came during a bout with mononucleosis, most likely brought on by over-training himself to the point of collapse. (Source) Following that loss he was ordered by doctors to take four months off from physical activity. Those months must have felt like near-death as Cancer Sun, Aries Moon is one of the most impatient of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings.

The other big challenge for this pairing is taking things too personally. The Harveys warn that this pairing “can easily develop a chip on the shoulder”. (Source) In each of the above videos, Lashley mentions “the critics”. What he’s referring to is the peanut gallery of cyber-haters who give him static via the internet for having spent a few years as a WWE performer in between his collegiate wrestling and professional fighting careers.

Objectively the guy shouldn’t be the least bit concerned about what a bunch of losers on the inter-tubes have to say as he’s got money in the bank, almost reached the Olympics as an amateur wrestler, has a burgeoning career as a professional fighter, and is clearly doing the right thing by the kids who train at his gym. But neither Cancer or Aries are known for their objectivity.

Cancer Sun, Aries Moon Astro-Twins: Half Crab, Half Ram, All Hero

Lashley has several astro-twins worth mentioning. The first is cult film RoboCop starring Peter Sellers as a deceased Detroit cop reborn as a cybernetic bad-ass. The film was released (born) July 17th, 1987 making it a Cancer Sun, Aries Moon just like Lashley. (Chart) Astro-twins often bear an impossible to ignore resemblance to each other even if not related by blood. In the case of Bobby Lashley and Robocop, it’s hard not to notice some similarities between the two at least in terms of physical build and basic modus operandi:

In the film’s concluding scene Robocop arrests the corrupt CEO of Omni Consumer Products, the mega-corporation that has been plotting to destroy Detroit and replace it with a corporate paradise called “Delta City”. The film thus centers around a bad-ass (Aries) who goes to the mat for home and family (Cancer).

Stunt pilot Melisa Pemberton, recently featured alongside her husband Rex Pemberton in an Outside Magazine article entitled “As Long as They Both Shall Live” is also a Cancer Sun, Aries Moon. (Chart) Like most natives of this pairing, she combines the feminine sensibilities of a Cancer Sun with the risk-taking instincts of an Aries Moon:

At first glance you might not think she and Bobby Lashley would have much in common as she’s a cute white chick and he’s a ginormous bald headed black man. If, however, you look beyond their immediate appearances they actually do have similar career arcs. Lashley makes his living by taking to the mixed martial arts cages to do heart pounding battle with foes. Pemberton makes her living by taking to the skies to do heart pounding stunts with her plane. Like Lashley, she is a sports champion whose love of home and family comes through quite clearly in the above video.

Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mt. Everest, is a Cancer Sun, Aries Moon. (Chart) When not prepping for one of his many adventures, Hilary spent most of his time in the privacy of his home in New Zealand.

Hillary didn’t “take to the barricades in aid of a cause” but he did take to the mountain tops from where he provided much needed aid for the Nepalese people by way of non-profit trust he created.

Cancer Sun, Libra Moon: The Smooth Operator

Considered the most intuitively shrewd of the twelve signs, Cancer perceives shifting tides of emotion as accurately as its animal symbol the crab perceives shifting tides of the ocean. This is why you’ll find a disproportionate number of Cancers in professions such as counseling and care-taking. When a person’s Sun (identity) is in Cancer they will to some degree be identified with their emotional intelligence. Libra, sitting 90 degrees away from Cancer, is considered the most interpersonal of signs. It’s associated with fairness, elegance, civility, sociability, companionability, and excels at maintaining one-to-one partnerships. When a person’s Moon (emotional needs) is in Libra the feel emotionally nourished when doing things with another person, whether in the romantic or professional contexts. Of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings, the Cancer Sun, Libra Moon pairing is one of the most socially aware as it combines the emotional intelligence of a Cancer Sun with the interpersonal instincts of a Libra Moon. It’s usually quite stylish, attuned to harmony, and in possession of a smooth, understated brand of sociability. New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, for instance, is a Cancer Sun, Libra Moon whose appearance in a 2001 VISA commercial captures nicely the smooth, stylish, and oh-so-socially suave ways of this pairing. (Chart)

Jeter has graced the covers of GQ, Vanity Fair, and dozens of other fashion magazines. Exuding the natural social confidence the Cancer Sun, Libra Moon native is known for, he was a perfect fit for the Gillette company’s 2008 “Staying Alive” campaign alongside golfer Tiger Woods, whose presence now only serves to highlight Jeter’s gentlemanly demeanor:

The combination of an emotionally sensitive Cancer Sun and a highly social Libra Moon make for a Sun/Moon pairing that is superb at maintaining its poise even in tense situations that could easily escalate out of hand. Consider, for instance, this this video in which Jeter and his lady friend are harassed by the paparrazzi outside a cafe. The photographer is clearly trying to antagonize Jeter (“Why haven’t you married her? Why aren’t you at spring training already?”, he asks) but Jeter responds by gracefully (Libra) diffusing the situation with down-home Cancerian question about the photographer’s home:

At age 37, Jeter is closer to the end of his playing days than he is their beginning. So what comes after baseball? In a 2008 interview with Men’s Health, Jeter expressed interest in owning a major league baseball team someday. That seems a fitting post-career choice for Jeter as Cancer is considered the most financially shrewd of signs while naturally sociable Libra excels at relating to its employees. Heading up an organization as large and loaded with out-sized egos as a major league baseball team just so happens to be the darn near ideal job for Cancer Sun, Libra Moon individual. Of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings this is probably the best one at smoothing out interpersonal conflicts.

Owning a baseball team is certainly an ambitious goal but Jeter may want to consider setting his aims even higher. His North Node (destiny) is in Sagittarius, the sign of far ranging adventures and long distance travels. Curiously enough, the Apollo-Soyuz test project launched (born) July 15th, 1975 is also a Cancer Sun, Libra Moon with its North Node in Sagittarius. (Chart) The first joint space mission between the US and the USSR, the Apollo-Soyuz project is a great example of how smooth and socially diplomatic Cancer/Libra can be when operating when on the world stage:

The joint space mission between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. has some thematic similarities to the maiden voyage of the German luxury vessel The Von Steuben. The subject of a fascinating 2005 article in National Geographic magazine, the Von Steuben was the first German passenger liner to enter New York Harbor following the cessation of World War I. Using its launch date as its date of birth, the Von Steuben is also a Cancer Sun, Libra Moon. (Chart) The epitome of both high class style and cozy comfort for its era, it too was a symbol of post-war peace — at least for a brief period.

Now you can understand why even after 20 years under the spotlight in the pressure cooker that is the New York City media-celebrity complex it’s darn near impossible to find anybody who has anything bad to say about Derek Jeter. At its best the Cancer Sun, Libra Moon individual is as good keeping the peace as they are at looking stylish.

How do you get revenge on Virgo?

Renown as the Health Guru of the Zodiac, Virgo is the sign most likely to use a computer database to track their daily intake of vitamins and minerals. This is why, according to astrologer Stella Hyde, the best way to drive a Virgo to the verge of a nervous breakdown is to simply have Big Macs delivered to their house on the hour, every hour for a day. (Source) “Oh for the love of all that is good and holy, nooooo!!!” my own Mars in Virgo cries out upon envisioning such a scenario.

Given Virgo’s aversion to fast food maybe it’s no coincidence that muckraking journalist Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation, has a Mars/Venus/Pluto conjunction in Virgo. (Chart)

Along with being the most health conscious sign of the zodiac, Virgo also excels at journalism due to its eye for detail, accuracy, and near fetishtic love of footnotes. In medical astrology Virgo rules the intestines which separate what stays with the body for nutritive purposes from what must be discarded as waste. It’s thus rather fitting that one of the most detailed books on the horrors of industrial food production was written by a man with a stellium in Virgo. This is, after all, the sign most accustomed to dealing with pathogen loaded waste, be it the type that our bodily processes produce or the sort that fortune 500 companies stock the store shelves with.

When not giving out extremely detailed vitamin recommendations, Virgo can be found serving others in a quiet but technically proficient fashion. Anybody who makes their living cleaning up other people’s messes usually has an emphasis in this service oriented sign. That nerdy (yet strangely hot) guy or gal in the IT department who shows up after hours to fix your computer because you failed to download the appropriate virus protection software? Probably a Virgo. Same for many members of the janitorial crew who anonymously clean your work place up at night.

The dark side of this tendency to serve in silence is that Virgo can fall into humiliating social roles or soul-crushing daily routines. In these situations Virgo is neither compensated or appreciated in a manner congruent to the service they provide. Even though he likely has no interest in astrology, Schlosser clearly understands the less pleasant side of the Virgo archetype. He first came to national prominence for a series of articles on Big Ag’s exploitation of farm workers and meat packers, two populations of service workers (Virgo) that are horrifically under-appreciated in our society:

A guaranteed way to get revenge on a Virgo is to mess with their filing system(s). Of course if their filing system is being used to write a book as important as Fast Food Nation maybe you should find another way to get back at your Virgo. As Mrs. Hyde explains in her book Dark Side Zodiac, diluting your Virgo’s supply of Clorox or leaving shrimp in their drapes will also do the trick. It may drive them temporarily batso but it will do so while not impeding on their crucial yet so often under-appreciated Virgoan life’s work.
