Virgo Stellium in the 12th House: "We Own the Night"

Image: The NRO’s original Hexagon satellite.

Editor’s Note: this is excerpt #2 from a magazine length article on the astrology of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), a black budget counterpart to NASA that is the NSA’s (silent) partner in surveillance and possibly the most secretive intelligence agency on the planet. Excerpt #1 can be read here. An audio/video version has been uploaded to YouTube. -Matt

The NRO’s Sun (identity), Venus (love, self-worth), Pluto (extremes, power, terror) and North Node (destiny) are all in Virgo (analysis, technical wizardry), all in the 12th House (hidden matters, secret societies). Virgo is the sign of precision while a 12th House emphasis is often seen in the charts of those who work at night. (Source) Take a close look at the NRO mission patch featuring a pair of mesh covered owl eyes that reads “We Own the Night”. In the lower half of that patch you’ll see four triangles, three filled in and one hollowed out, which appear to be flying over the Southern Hemisphere. The triangles in the patch are believed to represent four of the NRO’s Onyx class spy satellites, three of which are still in orbit and one of which deorbited in 1997. Whoever created this patch did so with a real Virgoan eye towards precision because, according to Mr. Paglen, the four triangles in the patch are depicted in the precisely correct orbital orientations to the planet as the NRO’s Onyx satellites are in real life. (Source)

NRO

The caption “We Own the Night” on this patch is a reference to the fact ONYX satellites are equipped with an imaging technology known as “Synthetic Aperture Radar” (SAR), the development of which was pioneered by the NRO in partnership with the U.S. Air Force. SAR uses the echoes of radar waves to create incredibly detailed images of a target without any need for an on-board optical camera. (Source) Night vision cameras, by way of contrast, simply magnify light already being reflected off the moon or that’s generated via other ambient sources. SAR technology requires absolutely no light whatsoever. It thus allows whoever possesses it to see as accurately (Virgo) during the night (12th House) as the rest of us see during the day.

An example of SAR in action should help illustrate just how powerful this technology is when it comes to discernment (Virgo) of the unseen (the 12th House). Back in 1978 NASA launched an oceanographic satellite equipped with SAR known as “SeaSat One”. (Source) SeaSat’s onboard SAR enabled it to remotely detect what was going on deep beneath the ocean’s surface by using radar wave echoes to sense through the water, loosely akin to what a medical intuitive does when they detect what is going on with your body by sensing into it. As a result, SeaSat collected more information about the conditions of the oceans in 100 days than all of humanity had collected in the previous 100 years. (Source) This isn’t meant to imply that SAR equipped satellites like those built by the NRO are “psychic” in the literal sense of the word. Their astonishing imaging capabilities can, however, be reasonably analogized to a technological version of extrasensory perception — the exact sort of phenomenon we astrologers associate with the 12th House.

Cancer Sun, Gemini Moon: The Rapper, the Reporter, and the Rat Patrol (The “Original G-Unit”)

The Sun’s in Cancer (the Crab) and Moon’s in Gemini (the Communicator) today, don’t have time for a full treatment of this pairing but will sometime after the retrograde is over. These guys belonged to the “Long Range Desert Patrol Group” (LRDPG) aka the “Ghost Patrol” aka the “G-Patrol”, which based on its operational start date was a Cancer Sun, Gemini Moon organization. They conducted guerilla warfare in North Africa during WWII where they would scurry along the coast of Libya from Benghazi to Tripoli in jeeps, hiding behind rocks and sand dunes — just like crabs — while radioing in (Gemini Moon) all the information they gathered about Nazi troop movements.

Ghost2

Jefferson Anderson says Cancer Sun, Gemini Moon is the Sun/Moon pairing of “the Antenna” who, like a chameleon, “takes on the color of their surroundings” while experiencing “more than their fair share of problems”. (Source) As is quite clear from this photo, members of the Ghost Patrol survived by blending into the background of their desert surroundings like chameleons while using antennas to report back on a terrain filled with a more than a few “problems”.

Rapper Curtis Jackson, best known as “Fifty Cent”, is also a Cancer Sun, Gemini Moon. In addition to having nine bullets lodged in his body, he’s also the founder of “Guerilla Unit” records aka the “G-Unit”. Like members of the G-Patrol, members of the G-Unit have survived in harsh, problem-filled geographies populated by all sorts of warring tribes, some friendly, some hostile, some a mixture of both. Like the G-Patrol, the G-Unit reports back on everything they see.

Cancer/Gemini people are great at getting publicity for themselves. Fifty Cent is one of the few rappers whose name is known in the mainstream world while the exploits of the “Ghost Patrol” were popularized by the 1960s television series The Rat Patrol, a show whose intelligent plot lines were far too nuanced to ever pass muster on current television. Interestingly enough, the show’s distinctive theme song has been sampled by numerous rappers.

Financial talk show host Clark Howard is also a Cancer Sun, Gemini Moon. The LRDPG’s job was to radio back all the info they gathered on the Nazis while Howard spends his time on the radio, discussing the info he’s gathered on the sinister practices of the big banks. The two aren’t totally different as the “Big Monster Mega-Banks”, as Howard calls them, would like to see the U.S. turned into a financial fuedal state where all us American lumpenproles have to answer to members of the Wall Street master race. Howard’s a major proponent of credit unions, locally owned financial institutions that are to Wall Street mega-banks what the LRDGP jeeps were to Nazi tanks. He’s also spent a lot of time helping people fight wrongful debt collection, a practice that is truly fascistic in nature.

As coincidence would have it, Howard is known for riding around in a customized plug in hybrid Toyota Prius — a vehicle that is to the tyranny of high fuel prices what the Ghost Patrol’s customized jeeps were to the tyrannical intentions of desert dwelling storm-troopers. Finally, like his fellow Cancer/Gemini Fifty Cent, Howard makes his living rapping and reporting on the microphone.

Gemini Sun, Gemini Moon: The Magic Eight Balls and their Magnificent Clones, the Manic Subversives and the Mercurial Mad-Hatters, the Oh So Social Spies and the Sentient World Simulations

Gemini is the sign of communication and cross-pollination, dexterity and duplicity, connectivity and con-artistry, mixed messages and multiple agendas, masquerades and myriad disguises, mental confetti and manic double talk, cross word games and jigsaw puzzles, nimble shortcuts and picture-perfect impersonations, quick witted instigators and street smart information brokers, fast-talking sales reps and free-wheeling spin doctors, lies that can pass for truths and truths which can double as lies. This is the Mercurial Mad-Hatter and the Multi-Lingual Multi-Tasker, the Master of Mind Games and the Mistress of Back Room Gossip. Symbolized as a pair of twins who appear identical but are actually radically different, the typical Gemini’s life will often read like a pair of chapter(s) out of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Robert Stevenson novel about a man with split-personalities. Scorpio is renown as the zodiac’s resident spy but Gemini’s propensity for multiple personalities makes it the sign most likely to find work as a double agent. To illustrate: using their establishment date as their date of birth, the U.S. Army Special Forces are a Gemini organization. (Chart) Known for wearing distinctive “Green Beret” head gear and requiring their members to be fluent in multiple languages (Gemini), the Green Berets are the fast moving, highly flexible, mad-hat military outfit Gemini Edward Snowden attempted to join prior to going to work for the National Security Agency. (Source) This Special Forces mission patch alludes to the Geminian nature of their work quite explicitly:

Taraget spy

Considered “force multipliers” and “masters of chaos”, the Green Berets’ primary job is to teach other people to wreak havoc. According to a recent documentary, the idea is to insert a 12 man team of Green Beret “advisors” into a war zone which will then multiply into a force of 120 or 1,200 by way of their teaching methods. They were a favorite of Geminian president John F. Kennedy who also had multiple sides to his personality.

Communication is Gemini’s forte so it’s fitting that Kennedy’s finest moment was his deft handling of communications between the U.S. and Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 1962 standoff that saw the world pushed to the brink of nuclear war. At the time there was no direct phone line between Washington and Moscow which made communications during the crisis dangerously cumbersome, something no self-respecting Gemini president is going to be okay with. As a result, Kennedy had the Moscow-Washington hotline aka “The Red Telephone” installed. Using the day it went live as its date of birth, the “Red Telephone” has both its Sun (conscious identity) and Moon (unconscious emotional needs) in Gemini. (Chart) Originally set up as a pair of twin teletype machines with one in Washington and one in Moscow, a fictionalized version of the Moscow-Washington hotline was featured prominently in the 1964 film Dr. Strangeglove:

When a person, company, or organization has both luminaries (Sun and Moon) in this devilish sign they will often posses numerous personalities. One personality may even multiply into 10 or 100 or 1000. You could say Gemini Sun, Gemini Moon is the Sun/Moon pairing of the “Ultimate Doppleganger(s)”, ones so brewing with (mis)information that they’re akin to “human fiber optic cables”. Actually, astrologers Austin Coppock and Michael Lutin already did say those things, here and here respectively. At least I think they said it. It might have been their digital clones over at the Department of Defense (DOD) who said so for them. “What?!”, you ask, “Astrologers like Austin Coppock and Michael Lutin have digital clones over at the DOD?!”. They sure do or, more accurately, they sure might. In fact everybody might have digital clones over at the DOD courtesy of the Simulex corporation, an Indiana based company that’s been working to create computerized clones of people for over a decade now. According to a 2007 article in the UK Register article, the U.S. government may already be using their simulations to subject your clone(s) (Gemini) to an ever-changing (Gemini) variety (Gemini) of fascinating (Gemini) experiments:

Perhaps your real life is so rich you don’t have time for another. Even so, the US Department of Defense (DOD) may already be creating a copy of you in an alternate reality to see how long you can go without food or water, or how you will respond to televised propaganda.

The DOD is developing a parallel to Planet Earth, with billions of individual “nodes” to reflect every man, woman, and child this side of the dividing line between reality and AR. Called the Sentient World Simulation (SWS), it will be a “synthetic mirror of the real world with automated continuous calibration with respect to current real-world information”, according to a concept paper for the project.

“SWS provides an environment for testing Psychological Operations (PSYOP),” the paper reads, so that military leaders can “develop and test multiple courses of action to anticipate and shape behaviors of adversaries, neutrals, and partners”.

SWS also replicates financial institutions, utilities, media outlets, and street corner shops. By applying theories of economics and human psychology, its developers believe they can predict how individuals and mobs will respond to various stressors.

SEAS can display regional results for public opinion polls, distribution of retail outlets in urban areas, and the level of unorganization of local economies, which may point to potential areas of civil unrest.

Yank a country’s water supply. Stage a military coup. SWS will tell you what happens next. (Source)

As coincidence would have it, the chart for the company’s incorporation (birth) has both the Sun and Moon in Gemini. (Chart) Astrologer Jefferson Anderson calls Gemini Sun, Gemini Moon the Sun/Moon pairing of the “Whirling Dervish” who can out-talk, out-gossip, and out-data process just about anyone:

You are more like several individuals than one . . . No problem arises without you finding the most practical and expedient solution. You are an intellectual powerhouse, having read just about everything there is to read and a lot about almost anything. You are able to assimilate information with incredible speed. (Source)

That’s actually a pretty accurate approximation of the Simulex corporation’s Synthetic World Simulation (SWS) technology. Each of its “nodes” can represent several individuals while it’s being used by governments and corporations to develop “expedient solutions” to a host of problems ranging from electrical blackouts to civil unrest. Eventually its creators want SWS to process new data in real time, which means it will be assimilating information at absolute incredibly speeds. The SWS is, in effect, a powerhouse artificial intelligence version of a “Magic Eight Ball”, one designed not to entertain party goers but to serve governments and private corporations. More than a few informed commentators have speculated that the real reason the intelligence agencies are gobbling up all of our emails, phone calls, bank records, and just about “everything else there is to read” is so they can feed them into computer simulations similar to the SWS. (Source)

As far as intelligence agencies go, people probably assume the Central Intelligence Agency is America’s first spy outfit. The reality is that the CIA evolved out of a World War two organization called the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) which, based on its establishment date, is also a Gemini Sun, Gemini Moon. (Chart) This OSS mission patch attests to the Geminis’/Geminis’ penchant for playing both the devil you know and the devil you don’t:

Email, cell phones, fiber optic cables, and other modern Geminian tools of the trade were yet to be invented but the OSS did pioneer developments in the use of wiretaps, electronic beacons, and other innovative forms of mercurial spy-craft. (Source) According to astrologer Raven Kaldera, the double Gemini pairing is something of a “Dennis the Menace” type character who will “peek inside people’s drawers, look under rotting leaves, glance into our files when the doctor leaves the room”. (Source) Among other things, OSS agents managed to menace the Nazis by peeking inside their mail, hiding weapons in rotting debris, and glancing into the files of important people when they weren’t in the room. Linda Goodman says the double Gemini people are at excellent at “thinking, theorizing, figuring, condemning, endorsing, discarding, sorting and analyzing the cold hard facts”. (Source) This is exactly what OSS agents did with the cold, hard facts they gleaned by way of their mad-hat, “Dennis the Menace” style methods. They also used these methods to spread rumors among target populations, such as the time they managed to spread a rumor in Germany that Heinrich Himmler had ordered German housewives to report to “baby breeding farms”. (Source)

Technology to digitally clone people like what the SWS can do obviously didn’t exist during the heyday of the OSS but, according to its Wikipedia entry, OSS agents were experts at cloning documents such as “fake German and Japanese-issued identification cards, various passes, ration cards and counterfeit money”. These still shots from a 1943 OSS training video showing an agent disguised as an upper class businessman on the left and a homeless street beggar on the right are good examples of this pairing’s prowess for masquerades, mimicry, and multiple personalities:

According to astrologer Stella Hyde, Gemini’s instant reflexes and ability to improvise make it the sign of the Street Magician. (Source) Along these lines, the OSS’s most (in)famously clever adventure was “Operation Cornflakes” in which OSS agents used a combination of improvised espionage tactics and street magician methods to trick the German postal service into hand delivering anti-Hitler propaganda to German homes through the mail. According to an article at MentalFloss.com, some of the forged German stamps the OSS produced as part of the Cornflakes operation are so valuable to collectors that forgeries (clones) of the forgeries (clones) have turned up for sale, a fitting legacy for an organization with so much Gemini in its chart.

Gemini/Gemini is an exceptionally social pairing and, not coincidentally, the OSS was known as “Oh So Social” for its rollicking social life. At one point the organization even produced a drug that would induce “uncontrollable chattiness”, something that’s about as double Geminian as it gets. (Source) Often referred to as the “glorious amateurs”, the OSS filled its ranks with a wide range of Gemini type people ranging from journalists and Hollywood script writers to safe-crackers and circus performers — two professions which emphasize clever use of the arms and hands, the two body parts ruled by Gemini in medical astrology. As this 1990s History Channel documentary explains, the OSS’s selection process required prospective agents to navigate a fascinating if peculiar series of mind games disguised as circus acrobatics:

With so many twins occupying its astrological chat, any double Gemini is going to have a real serious Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde component to their personality. In the case of the OSS, defeating Hitler was the Dr. Jekyll side. What they did and who they associated with in order to defeat Hitler was the Mr. Hyde component. Astrologer Stella Hyde says that legalish professions for Gemini are “futures broker, market trader, and tax lawyer” while criminal professions for this sign include “gun runner, drug smuggler, and gangster’s moll”. (Source) On the legal(ish) side, the OSS was originally organized by a group Wall Street lawyers, markets traders, and futures brokers who had connections high up in Washington DC. (Source) On the criminal side, the OSS partnered with actual gangsters, gun runners and drug smugglers as these groups knew best how to covertly get weapons and funds into the hands of anti-Nazi partisans. (Source) According to now deceased journalist Danny Casolaro, “The OSS permitted the Mafia to use the port of Marseilles for heroin smuggling in exchange for its assistance in defeating the Nazis”. Unfortunately, these networks didn’t just go away when the war ended. For instance, the Marseilles heroin syndicate utilized by the OSS was the one later depicted in the award winning 1971 crime film The French Connection. (Source) Obviously this is something neither Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde like to talk about much.

In addition to being a “trickster-fixster” with its hands in just about everything, Gemini/Gemini at its most extreme shadow incarnation is probably one of the best Sun/Moon combinations for running a giant insurance scam. For instance, the much maligned insurance company American International Group (AIG) actually evolved out of a highly classified unit inside the OSS. For folks who may not remember, it was AIG’s failed derivative scams that were ground-zero for the 2008 economic collapse. A year 2000 Los Angeles Times article entitled “The Secret Agent (Insurance) Man” traced the company’s heritage all the way back to its “Oh So Social” Geminian roots:

Newly declassified U.S. intelligence files tell the remarkable story of the ultra-secret Insurance Intelligence Unit, a component of the Office of Strategic Services, a forerunner of the CIA, and its elite counterintelligence branch X-2.

. . . the unit mined standard insurance records for blueprints of bomb plants, timetables of tide changes and thousands of other details about targets . . . “They used insurance information as a weapon of war,” said Greg Bradsher, a historian and National Archives expert on the declassified records.

The men behind the insurance unit were OSS head William “Wild Bill” Donovan and California-born insurance magnate Cornelius V. Starr. Starr had started out selling insurance to Chinese in Shanghai in 1919 and, over the next 50 years, would build what is now American International Group . . . (Source)

Speaking of Oh So Social double Geminis linked to the world of high finance, talk show host Suze Orman is a Gemini Sun, Gemini Moon. (Chart) At first you might not think she would have to much in common with America’s first spy agency the OSS but they actually have more than a few similarities. For starters, Ms. Orman is extremely talkative, so much so that watching her show one can’t help but wonder if her coffee’s been spiked with the substance the OSS came up with to induce uncontrollable chattiness. Her non-stop, manic, rapid fire way of engaging her callers even brings to mind the mad-hat “Dennis the Menace” methods the OSS used to harass its adversaries. (“DENIED girlfriend!!!”)

“But wait, there’s more”, a lot more, in terms of the parallels between OSS and Ms. Orman. The OSS was organized by Wall Street lawyers turned intelligence operatives while Orman started out as a financial adviser at Wall Street bank Merrill Lynch before turning to a career as talk show tele=operative (host). She’s never officially been in the spy business but has admitted to deploying OSS like tactics when dealing with her critics. From a Business Journal article entitled “Don’t Mess with Suze Orman”:

Obviously, when I want to, I do investigations into the people to find out, What does their economic situation look like? One person who did this in the past — he has such severe debt, owns a home that was, like, $100,000, fights with his wife all the time, drives a junker of a car, doesn’t have a pot to pee in. It just validated the fact that when people are so vindictive and they’re really trying to slam you, it’s because they’re so desperate — they’re trying to do anything to get noticed. (Source)

As mentioned earlier, Gemini is the sign of “the double agent who plays both sides”. At one point while working at Merrill Lynch selling investment strategies, Orman sued Merrill Lynch for the shady investment strategies they had sold her years earlier. (Source) Only a super nimble double Gemini could manage to pull that off.

Like the operatives at OSS and the clones at the Simulex corporation, Orman appears to have multiple personalities. As Helaine Olen points out in her book Pound Foolish: Exposing the Dark Side of the Personal Finance Industry, Orman’s public persona back in the 1990s was much more on the “down-to-earth” side albeit spiced up with hint of spiritual new-age salt and pepper. Following the crash of 2008 she morphed into a fiercesome, fire-breathing financial “tiger mom” of the airwaves. Orman says the best way for people to become millionaires is to invest in the stock market yet she invests most of her money in super-safe bonds. (Source) One side of Orman has publicly expressed sympathy for the revolutionary aims of the Occupy Wall Street movement, another side of her almost seems like an operative for the FICO corporation. On the one hand, Orman has done well enough to dress in Versace and fly first class. On the other hand, she is still something of a scrappy, bare-knuckle “hood”, this by her own admission:

GeminiHood

Strange, strange coincidence: the SWS program analyzes aggregated data in hopes of predicting people’s future behavior. In 2012 Orman released her own pre-paid bank card which according to Orman, “has a deal with Transunion so that for they years they would look at behavior on this card — in an aggregate, anonymous way —- and see if it determines future behavior”. (Source)

In addition to being oriented to data exchange and dissemination, the Gemini/Gemini pairing will often find his or her way into knowledge quests, overseas crusades, and spiritual super-missions, all of which are generally considered the domain of Sagittarius — the sign opposite to Gemini. This is because, according to Berkeley based astrologer Linda Rose, when a chart has both the Sun and Moon in the same sign the entity will often express as the opposite sign. I suspect this “kick-over” phenomenon observed by Ms. Rose is some type of psychological compensation mechanism similar to what happens in traditional Chinese medicine when one meridian is so overloaded with energy that the person hyper-expresses the characteristics of the opposite meridian. Regardless of the exact mechanism behind the phenomenon it does seem to track reality with a high degree of consistency. To illustrate: the Simulex corporation aggregates massive amounts of data (Gemini) in hopes of getting big picture knowledge (Sagittarius) about how people behave. The OSS used mad-hat methods of manic subversion (Gemini) as part of an overseas crusade (Sagittarius) to defeat Hitler. Suze Orman hosts a talk show (Gemini) about money but in a culture where banks have more power than God she’s actually as much a spiritual guru figure (Sagittarius) as she is an uncontrollable chatter-box (Gemini).

As she explains in the above video, Orman has more recently been applying her verbal acumen (Gemini) towards a new crusade (Sagittarius): the crusade to have gay couples granted the same financial rights and privileges as heterosexual couples. For a Sun/Moon pairing with as many question marks surrounding it as Gemini/Gemini, that’s about as straight a shot (Sagittarius) as they come.

Gemini Sun, Libra Moon: The Chatty Socialites and their friends the Sassy Gossip Columnists and their friends the Gay Publicists and their other friends the Rainbow Dance Troupe along with their other friends the High-Flying Photographers (Plus, "Two of the world’s most classified paparazzi missions!")

Using the date its patent was filed as its date of birth, the concept of Pigeon Photography is a Gemini Sun, Libra Moon – one of the most chatty, socially curious Sun/Moon pairings

Gemini is “the Communicator” of the zodiac known for its quick communications, cross-pollination, and chatting late into the night. Libra, its air sign cousin sitting 120 degrees to the right, is “the Social Director” of the zodiac known for its smooth sociability and suave relational skills. Combine the highly communicative nature of a Gemini Sun with the socially conscious instincts of a Libra Moon and you get a Sun/Moon pairing that is chatty, charming, and extremely clever. A deft and delightful companion whether in the office carpool or out at a coffee shop, this pairing lives life according to the philosophy of “gaiety, good times, and the gift of gab.” Like most double air combinations, it excels at anything involving the airwaves or mass media such as writing, blogging, television, radio, etc.

In addition to “gaiety, good times, and the gift of gab” this pairing also enjoys an ever-changing variety of “vistas, viewpoints, and vivacious visitors”. Astrologers Suzi and Charles Harvey write of the Gemini/Libra’s extremely diverse mercurial abilities, “You especially enjoy travel, for you love the stimulation of new faces, new landscapes and other perspectives.” (Source) To illustrate just how much this pairing loves traveling to see new landscapes: using the day its patent was filed in 1908 as its date of birth, the concept of “pigeon photography” is a Gemini Sun, Libra Moon. (Chart) In the age of ubiquitous satellite imagery, the idea of using pigeons to take aerial photographs may seem quaint. Back at the turn of the century it was an extraordinarily novel way to view “new landscapes from new perspectives” and to see “different vistas from different viewpoints”. Take a look, for instance, at these photos snapped by some early pigeon photographers:

Libra Sun, Gemini Moon individuals excel at seeing things from a variety of vistas, viewpoints, and perspectives

The patent for pigeon photography was filed by Dr. Julius Neubronner, a German apothecary who also used the pigeons to deliver medicine to his far away patients. Gemini/Libras are very entertaining, easy-going, and make excellent conversationalists so it’s quite likely that Dr. Neubronner’s patients enjoyed the pigeons’ visits for reasons social as much as medicinal. It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the pigeons even managed to engage in some type of conversation with those to whom they were delivering medicine. As astrologer Linda Goodman points out, when Gemini (the “Communicator”) is paired with Libra (the “Social Director”) the result is dazzling conversation and dizzying sociability:

These two air signs are fun to watch, like trapeze artists at the circus. Their mental gymnastics can be both dazzling and dizzying . . . when they team up at home, in the office, on the campus, or anywhere else, it will definitely not be difficult to hear them. These two signs will have lengthy discourses on every subject imaginable, and they both have immense imaginations. Sometimes the discussions are friendly, sometimes not. But they will usually remain on speaking terms since silence for anything but the briefest periods of time is well nigh an impossibility. (Source)

One of the most social of the 144 Sun/Moon pairings, the textbook Gemini/Libra loves going back-and-forth, to-and-fro among a wide variety of people, projects, and places. This is probably the Sun/Moon pairing most likely to find work as a gossip columnist (albeit a friendly one), a party planner, a salesperson, a public relations expert, or even as a member of the paparazzi – at least in the old days when the paparazzi made an attempt to catch celebrities at their most classy instead of their most skanky.

Speaking of celebrities, this pairing loves pop culture! Even those Gemini/Libras who find themselves in the most intellectually high-minded professions such as law, politics, mediation, or counseling can be found secretly checking websites like as TMZ and PerezHilton during meetings or reading People Magazine during their lunch breaks. Those who don’t peruse the gossip mags will still be at the center of any Monday morning water-cooler exchanges about who did what with whom where over the weekend. Gemini/Libra is a very light, flighty combination so its interest in office gossip is motivated more by endless curiosity and an absolute intolerance of boredom than anything dark-hearted or deeply sinister. Scott Adams, the cartoonist best known for creating the Dilbert series, is a Gemini/Libra. (Chart)

This pairing is often as dextrous physically as it is socially. Legendary dancer and civil rights activist Josephine Baker, for instance, is a Gemini/Libra. (Chart) Bi-lingual, bi-sexual, and bi-racial, Baker adopted 12 children, each of a different ethnicity, while enjoying stardom across both France and the U.S.

Like many Gemini/Libras, Baker excelled in a variety of professions. In addition to being a professional dancer, she also worked for the French resistance as a spy during World War II. According to Baker’s Wikipedia page, her job was to “report any gossip she heard at parties that might be of use to her adopted country.” (Source) She also “assisted the French Resistance by smuggling secrets written in invisible ink on her sheet music.” (Source) Only a Gemini/Libra could score a spy gig based on gab, gossip, and gaiety filled entertainment!

Josephine Baker

Baker isn’t the only Gemini/Libra to put this pairing’s mental and physical dexterity to use as a spy. Using its first flight as its date of birth, the P-61 “Black Widow” night fighter, the first aircraft specifically designed to use radar, is a Gemini Sun, Libra Moon. (Chart) Like Josephine Baker, the P-61 was also extraordinarily dextrous in terms of its ability to dip, dive, and dance through the skies. Take a look at the plane’s structure as it bears a resemblance to the glyphs for both Gemini and Libra. Like the glyph for Gemini it has two cockpits facing each other, one front and back, each of which housed its own recon-photographer. Like the glyph for Libra the plane is comprised of two equally balanced halves, one left and one right:

Gemini Sun, Libra Moon excels at anything involving the airwaves

The P-61 was also used in “aerial photo-mapping”, which is essentially a more modern version of pigeon photography. Coincidentally, pigeon photography was actually used by the CIA in espionage missions similar to those the P-61 was originally designed for. (Source)

What’s really interesting is that the P-61 and Mrs. Baker had similar jobs during the war: Mrs. Baker relayed secret information she picked up while dancing in and out of Nazi occupied social settings while the P-61 relayed secret information it picked up while dancing in and out of Nazi occupied skies. The Harveys tell us that “living by its wits” and a tendency to “skim the surface” of matters are two of this pairing’s weaknesses. (Source) It’s true this pairing has a tendency towards superficiality but the capacity to “skim the surface” while “living by one’s wits” aren’t such bad weaknesses when one is dodging Nazis!

This pairing loves variety in relationships, will often have numerous significant partnerships, whether romantic or professional. This is true even when the Gemini/Libra in question is of the aviation persuasion. The P-61, for instance, was initially assigned to (partnered with) the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC). Following the war it was re-assigned (re-partnered) to Project Thunderstorm, a joint program by the U.S. Weather Bureau and NASA to study atmospheric weather patterns, an extremely fitting gig for a double air pairing. (Source) On a metaphoric level it’s probably not too much of a stretch to consider the P-61’s assignments as being akin to marriages: the first marriage was during World War II to the Army while the second marriage was during Project Thunderstorm to both the Weather Bureau and NASA. That’s two marriages to three spouses, each of whom had very different dispositions and life missions. Leave it to a Gemini/Libra to adapt themselves such a diverse array of partners!

On a similar note, Josephine Baker was married four times to four men, each of a different nationality and/or ethnicity. (Source) Only a pairing as socially deft, psychologically dextrous, superbly diplomatic and as comfortable viewing things from different perspectives as Gemini/Libra could pull off such relational arrangements while maintaining a light heart and an open mind.
