A few times a month I do an Astrology News Round Up of articles classified by astrological transit. Some articles are very easy to classify as being associated with a certain planetary transit. Others involve multiple ones and are more difficult to pin down. I save the more difficult ones for periodic Astrologer News Commentaries. Feel free to agree, disagree, or discuss the classifications in the comments section. -Matt

Facebook is Monitoring Your Chats for “Criminal Behavior”

This was is right off the bat obviously Pluto in Capricorn but also the conjunction of South Node (karmic past) with Venus (love/seduction) and Jupiter (good fortune, too much of a good thing) in Gemini, the downside of which is “excess connectivity”.

TechPP.com: How the NSA Algorithims See Into Your Mind Before You Do

If you want to know just how advanced this stuff is make sure to check out this article from 2007 at which point the Pentagon was already running simulations on all 6.5 billion people on the planet. (Yes, all 6.5 billion) That was five years ago, imagine what they can do now.

Wired: Russia’s Top Cyber Sleuth Foils U.S. Spies, Helps Kremlin Friends

This has Pluto (destruction) in Capricorn (status quo) square Uranus (innovations) in Aries (warfare) on it most obviously but also Mars in Libra as it relates to “balance of power” issues. Sputnik, for instance, has a Sun/Mars/Jupiter conjunction in Libra in its chart and it was what set off the a 50 year fight over the balance of power between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.

Wired: Sudden Melting of Greenland Ice Sheet Has Scientists Alarmed

Again, the Uranus/Pluto square as Uranus relates to shocking developments and Pluto in Capricorn (structures) relates to geologic structures as much as financial/political ones. Tectonic plates are obviously under the domain of Capricorn, I suppose ice sheets which take thousands of years to form could be considered similar. Neptune in Pisces also comes into play here as Neptune dissolves boundaries in whatever sign it moves through. In Pisces it dissolves boundaries on the ocean itself. The melting will also allow oil companies to get at oil that has previously been impossible to get to because of the ice. The first modern oil well (“Drake’s Well”) was drilled in Pennsylvania last time Neptune went through Pisces.

Wired: Skydiver Hits Record of 536 MPH Jumping from 18 Miles Up

This has North Node (destiny) in Sagittarius (high adventure, new frontiers) all over it with some nice added buzz from Uranus (innovations in Aries (the daredevil).

The Atlantic: Scholars Uncover 1670s Version of Twitter (No Joke)

Ha! This has the current pile up in Gemini (chatting, gossip) and North Node in Sagittarius (publishing, scholarship) all over it but as it pertains to the “re”-publishing of previous material it’s also very much in line with the spirit of the current Mercury Retrograde in Leo.

Style Blazer: 15 Actors Who are Straight but Play Gay or Vice Versa

We’ve got Venus/Jupiter/South Node all in Gemini, which is symbolized by the Twins and the sign most likely go both ways.

NY Times: DNA and Fossils Tell Differing Stories of Human Origins

As Gemini is symbolized by the Twins it is also thought by many astrologers to be the sign associated with the double helix DNA. So this one has the current pile up in Gemini all over it along with the North Node in Sagittarius (scholarship). Digging up old fossils are definitely the domain of Pluto in Capricorn as Pluto unearths things while Capricorn pertains to anything old such as the geologic record.

UK Telegraph: South Korean Artist to Launch Home Made Space Satellite

“Ohhhh hells yeah bitch!” my Aries Moon says to this one. Obviously it’s got North Node in Sagittarius (adventures) with a wide but valid trine from Uranus (innovations) in Aries (the do-it-yourselfer) all over it. The Uranus/Pluto square is also visible here as you can bet the establishment (Capricorn) is going to want to crack down on DIY space satellites. Throw in Mars in Libra as it definitely shifts the balance of power away from centralized power structures and back to the people.
